10 SECONDS:
1) Tell the next person you meet about slavery. What about it left you shocked and motivated to do something? Encourage them to visit Free the Slaves website for more information.
30 SECONDS:
1) Sign up for Free the Slaves' monthly e-newsletter at http://www.freetheslaves.net. It will keep you informed with inspiring monthly updates that sometimes make you cheer out loud!
2) Give the gift of freedom. Make a tax-deductible donation and know that you are hleping to make the difference between slavery and freedom fro another human being. Your donation helps Free the Slaves clone the liberators both overseas and at home by giving a regular contribution to an antislavery organization that frees people from slavery and rebuilds their lives.
3) Join Free the Slaves' Cause and Group page on Facebook and invite your friends to join. This is also a space to meet fellow anti-slavery activists, watch videos, and visit new links to information.
15 MINUTES:
1) Tell your Congressman to support anti-trafficking/anti-slavery bills before the US Congress. You can quickly find out who your Representatives ad Senators are by going to http://www.house.gov and http://www.senate.gov and typing in your zip code! Call them to ask if they will support the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which helps combat slavery in the US and around the world. Elected officials listen!
2) Vote with your pocketbook. Demand that retailers and manufacturers clean slavery from the product chain!
3) Write! Submit a letter or op-ed to your local paper about modern-day slavery!
4) Have a Blog? Use it to spread the truth about slavery! Don't have a blog? Create one via google!
5) Educate yourself and the community about the signs of slavery and report suspicious behavior to your local shelter, social service provider, or police station. OR call teh 24 Hour National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline 1.888.373.7888.
1 HOUR:
1) Educate your faith community, school, family, co-workers, and neighbors about modern-day slavery. Encourage everyone to be involved in teh movement in their own unique way! Tools are available free of charge on Free the Slaves' website.
1 WEEK:
1) Plan an event to raise awareness and/or fundraise to support the liberators around the world supported by Free the Slaves
1 MONTH OR MORE:
