Kelli Okuji, President, Webmaster
Kelli Okuji is an undergraduate at Harvard College. She is concentrating in Sociology and earning a secondary field in the Anthropology of Human Rights. The birth of Harvard College for Free the Slaves began in Emerson Lecture Hall in the Spring of 2008, when Kevin Bales introduced Free the Slaves at an American Protest Literature class. As an attendee, Kelli was deeply moved by Kevin Bales's words, grounded research, and above all, hope to change the course of the future for those that were enslaved. Kelli was inspired to take action and with the help of Judy Hyde, Volunteer Coordinator for Free the Slaves, created one of the founding chapters for Free the Slaves in the fall of 2008. As the co-founder and Head Coordinator of HCFTS, Kelli has worked endlessly to promote the rights of those enslaved and to do her part as a community member to bring awareness to her fellow classmates and community about the existence of modern-day slavery. Currently, Kelli is helping to establish a base curriculum that will promote awareness about contemporary slavery in schools as well as encourage students to become more proactive in the process of emancipation.

Amanda Nguyen, Social Coordinator, Research Team Member- Human Rights and Social Movements
Amanda Nguyen is an undergraduate student at Harvard College and a prospective Government concentrator. She is currently working with Ms. Christina Bain, the Program Administrator for The Initiative to Stop Human Trafficking at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy. Amanda's area of research deals with human rights and social movements. Feel free to contact her at amandanguyen@college.harvard.
Katie Doherty, Research Team Member- Law
Madison Greer, Research Team Member- Public Health
Madison Greer is a member of the class of 2013 and aims to study film, composition, and acting at Harvard while concurrently working on her M.A. in jazz voice from the New England Conservatory. Raised in a family that has been actively involved in the Free the Slaves organization since its beginnings, Madison’s passion for human rights comes naturally. Her ardor for the issues of human trafficking and modern slavery are rooted in her desire to see the phrase “basic human rights” become true in the sense of basic rights for “all humans.” As an aspiring award-winning musician, actress, and film-maker, she plans to use her future influence to become a strong advocate for universal freedom and the end of unethical bondage of innocents as a human rights ambassador to foreign nations. Fun facts? Among Madison’s other goals is to become an spokeswoman for healthy lifestyle and to set the record for most charities donated to by a pop star and most Grammy’s won in a single night.
