INTERNSHIPS:
The Human Rights and Social Movements Program at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy is seeking a part-time intern (15 hours per week) to assist with various administrative and research related tasks. We are also seeking an intern for the January term.
The *Human Rights and Social Movements Program* examines the complex relationship between human rights and social movements with a particular emphasis on how grassroots mobilizations have shaped and contested modern conceptions and practices of human rights, both in the United States and throughout the globe. This new program is guided by the faith that social movements have played—and continue to play—a significant role in the
conception, development, evolution, and implementation of what Michael Ignatieff refers to as the “human rights revolution.” The role of social movements in creating and challenging human rights is often downplayed or ignored. We believe that it deserves broader attention and deeper
examination. We are seeking assistance for the following research projects:
1. The Anthropology of Human Rights Civil Society
Organizations<http://www.hks.
2. Assessing Human Right Organization Impact: Do Organizations Evaluate Their Work? How can They Improve in a Cost-Effective Way? > <http://www.hks.harvard.edu/
3. A project related to Human Trafficking (there is no website at this point)
Applicants should have a strong interest in the promotion of human rights and the ability to do online research effectively and thoroughly. Research experience is preferred. To apply, please send a resume and letter of interest to *prasse@post.harvard.edu* by *November 13, 2009*, and please indicate your availability during the semester, during the January term, and during the Spring semester.
